No business starts successful, and not all beginner business owners have the courage to continue despite the struggles of being an unknown entity in the market. But Tifanny Gonzales Uyco, the owner of Wei Ming Dian, a store specializing in Chinese and Asian delicacies, proved to be one of those real entrepreneurs at heart who braved through the discouraging path of starting a business regardless of the challenges that may come her way.

For Tifanny, starting out was anything but easy. She had to wake up early — setting up her stall at the break of dawn and contending with initial indifference from potential customers. Despite the efforts, it seemed like no one noticed her stall. It was understandable given that the market was crowded with competitors and her products were perceived to have a higher price point compared to others, but it was still heartbreaking. Many days were spent watching customers pass by with their attention diverted elsewhere.

But Tifanny didn’t falter. She knew that quality and authenticity would eventually speak for themselves. Slowly but surely, people began to recognize the unique taste and quality of her siomai. Not long after, the market was filled with excitement whenever Tifanny’s stall appeared. Customers would exclaim, “Uy, and’yan na si siomai!” upon her arrival. The initial struggle transformed into a steady stream of loyal customers who couldn't get enough of her unique asian food.

Wei Ming Dian began with Tifanny’s vision to bring authentic Chinese and Asian delicacies to the local market. She takes pride in her siomai having that distinct Chinese taste yet prepared with the finest locally sourced ingredients — a true touch of tradition and a dash of innovation.

Apart from siomai, Tifanny introduced her uniquely made buchi which balanced sweetness perfectly, catering to those mindful of their sugar intake and vegans especially.

In the process of building Wei Ming Dian, she always had a hands-on approach, taking the effort to taste other recipes to make sure every product met her exacting standards before offering it to her customers.

One of the biggest milestones for Wei Ming Dian was its partnership with Iskaparate’s Our Market. This collaboration not only increased accessibility but also allowed Tifanny to fulfill special requests, such as customized dimsum platters for parties and events, further cementing her reputation for quality and customer care.

What makes Tifanny’s story all the more heartwarming is where she anchors her passion — to provide every Filipino with the opportunity to enjoy good food.
